18 yr old male with thin hair?

Hey guys, I know I shouldn't be worrying to much since I'm a guy and all... but I've started to notice that my hair is kind of thin. Not thinning, just thin, as in thin roots (uniform over the whole head).

But I have 2 problems, one is that the day I wash my hair, and dry it it seems fine (volumed and all) but the next day it's a bit oily over again, so I want to wash it... but I don't want to use too much shampoo..

Second problem is I seem to have random white spots showing on my head once it gets a bit oily. Although you can only see them under bright direct light, it's still a bit annoying and I was wondering if it's normal.

Thanks for reading/considering the question

Ok you know a girl is going to answer this even though you geared it to guys-so here goes....

You need to buy at least a second shampoo.Alternate them everyday. If you use the same shampoo everyday, the awesome results you used to get when you first started using it, will not happen anymore-because your hair gets "used" to it.

And the spots, no not normal, it can be nothing-but it could be a serious skin disorder. Please see a dermatologist ASAP The longer you wait, the harder it will be to reverse the damage.

Thin hair ? Well, if it's always been like that - I wouldn't worry. It's probably just the way you are. But if it's been thinning recently, then something is wrong !

Random white spots ? Like dandruff ? Skin flakes ? ... or actual patches of white skin on your scalp ?

Any way - that sounds weird and serious. I think you should go and see a doctor. It sounds like it could be ring worm or something. (fungal infection)

Better safe than sorry.

You need to use a shampoo specifically designed for oily hair. The brand doesn't really matter, as long as it's a good one. And if you're hair is oily after a day of washing it, by all means, wash it again. Some people need to wash their hair every day. You can also get shampoos that will volumize and take care of the oilyness.

White spots can be signs of a skin condition. Nothing to be alarmed about. See your dermatologist and have him/her take a look at the spots to see if they can prescribe anything to help.

Hi Ya

Your right not to use too much shampoo as this just makes it more greasy. If the texture of the hair is changing there can be a number of reasons.

First are you on medication no then

Have you changed your diet no then

Have you changed your hair products no

Then are you tired or run down or running around fitting 48hrs into twenty four.

It seems to me you have oily hair people don't realise that you can break out in dry patches on the scalp with oily hair. Or syriosis which is easily treated.

As for ring worm this is rare and you would have to be in contact with someone who had it or use their towel etc to catch it, it is highly infectious so anyone you live with would have it. To describe it , circles Grey in color raised up which grow wider and wider. Its easily treated by your GP..

If this is not the case then it may just be the pigments on your scalp. If you are at all worried see a GP.

Hope this Helps
