Thinned hair vs. Layered hair?

I have really poofy hair, about shoulder length. It is very thick and makes things unmanageable. I've heard of thinning but there were also layers. Does thinning give your hair that christmas tree look? If so then I probably won't be getting that. Also to make the hair thinner does one go for long or short layers? Last but not least is thinning better to get than layering and please state why if you can? Thanks.

Thinned hair vs. Layered hair?

i have my hair layered and sometimes thinned too.

cause my hair sometimes gets thick at the ends, so my hairs thinned out near the ends, and i have layers put in.

i think it looks pretty good together if i do say so myself

:)

if you have your hair thinned out then dont get it thinned out too much :)

Thinned hair vs. Layered hair?

I prefer not to thin myself, because you can thin too much. What we would need to know b4 answering your question completely is whether or not your hair is curly, wavy, and if you have either of these.....then the answer for thinning is an outright NO, because it will only make the poof worse....much worse. If you hair is straight, then light thinning is OK, but lots of stylist will end up cutting into their design and ruin the whole look.

As far as layers, again it depends on the type of curl you have, and it can still get poofy with layers, if not done properly. straight hair, sure layers will be fine, but i would not do anything above the ear to where I could not tuck my hair behind them if needed. but a stylist would have to look and touch your hair, to determine what really needs to be done, to make your hairstyle best for you.

thinning is pretty much when the stylist will take this comb that is actually a scissors and it adds texture....layers....if you have poofy hair do not get layers unless they are long layers.
