Help Thinning Hair problem?

I'm 18 and I have thinning hair.I loose some hair when I wake up because of all the tossing and turning at night.I started getting thinning hair this year.Only one person in my family has no hair %26amp; my parents said it was because he was a chef at a restaurant %26amp; always wore a chef hat.I don't buy that.Is it because of too much masturbation or because I wear an old hat for many days every year?I'm in good shape and eat healthy %26amp; I'm not depressed or stressed out so what is causing the thinning hair?

You are 18, and, despite wearing hats, it doesn't impact your hair loss. Your parents are wrong. Hair loss is a genetic issue, and there can be other contributing factors such as stress, which you apparently are aware of, and also thyroid issues. If you are losing just a bit when you wake up, it is only natural; everyone loses hair when they sleep, even females. If your maternal grandfather had thinning hair, then the odds are real good you will also have thin hair. This is pretty much a standard to go by; I have read about this time and time again, and, yes, I am pretty much bald myself. My own Dad had a full head of hair when he passed away at 50; I am 39 and have very little hair at all. My maternal grandpa was bald. Thyroid conditions seem to play a part for some reason, causing hair follicles to become greasy and brittle. It is hard to pinpoint the exact cause of your hair loss, if it even is as much as you think it is. Bear in mind that genetics, stress, diet, and thyroids all play factors. Hats, masturbation, rolling around at night do not. These are old wives' tales. If your hair loss is really that significant, shave the remainder, and go bald, like Chris Doughtry, Howie Mandel, (myself), and save yourself money on shampoo. Heck, maybe some girls will think you are older! I know it's frustrating, but maybe you aren't really losing much hair; just what you see on the pillow when you wake up? Don't stress it! I have also read that bald men have a higher level of testosterone than others. Whether this is true or not, I don't know, but I have always been a bit stronger than most males, esp. for my size. (until my heart condition began)

it could be a vitamin deficciency.

I'd see a doctor.

Other than that, you can go to a hair salon and request "Nioxin" shampoo %26amp; conditioner - they can tell you about it, but basically it keeps your hair from falling out anymore. Like Rogaine without the cost (or image)...
