Yikes! Thinning hair! What to do?

I'm finally past the denial stage. My hair is definitely thinning. If family history is any indicator, I'll one day need to make a trip to the wig shop. But is there any way to prevent or even stall this?

Yikes! Thinning hair! What to do?

Things that you can do to decrease hairfall

1) STOP WORRYING TOO MUCH ABOUT THEM. Stress is known to aggrevate hairfall.

2) Eat food thats high in protein and minerals. Eat lots of salads, sprouts, eggs, soups etc.

3) Take good care of your hair... Wash them regularly. condition them. Dont use too many styling products. Dont blow dry your hair ( if you just have to....use the cold mode)

4) medications: Meet your dermatologist and he will prescribe minoxidil lotion and some vitamin capsules which will help.

5) Rule out any major illness like anaemia, thyroid problems etc.

All the best.

How old are you? If you are experiencing oily skin, zero pms, and nausea, you need to see an endocrinologist asap. my friend has a health condition that shows these symptoms along with thinning hair, and ended up on hormone therapy medication for several years.

Oh. How sad. LIVE WITH IT. There's really no point in trying to be something you're not....That's phony, which is much worse than being bald...

There Is an excellent product sold by licensed hair salons called "nioxin" it stimulates the scalp to keep on growing new hair.

I was getting a serious receding hairline but I started using it and it began to grow back, so now im a big believer.

Everything you say indicates you have "female pattern baldness". Unlike male pattern where the hairline recedes, female pattern baldness is predominantly a generalized thinning, with eventually the scalp visible in almost all aspects. There HAVE been studies indicating that Rogaine, same one used by the men has a good effect on this.

Since I got out of med school, though I understand there are some options where you only have to apply it once a month or so, but that is not my area of specialty, so you will want to go to a dermatologist for this.

Wouldn't it be great if you did not have to go through what the others in your family did?
