Trimming hair and thinning hair?

What's the difference between trimming hair and thinning hair?

I don't know if trimming is like cutting your hair, so it is not straight but rather like this VVVVVVV?

Trimming hair is taking a little bit off the ends in a straight line. Thinning uses a shears that one side of the shears is jagged. So it only cuts parts of the hair. The vvvvvv is point cutting. That will blend the hair a little more than cutting it straight across.

trimming hair is when you cut off a small amount like one inch or so

im not quite sure what you do to thin hair though

Trimming is just cutting the edge of your hair to make it neater.

Thinning is well, thinning. The hairstylist takes their sissor and just slices off locks of hair to make your hair less thick. Scared the living heck out of me when my stylist did that. Though she was cutting all my hair off or something.
